SA BIG thank you to all the club members and guests who came out to Joni Barham’s Eclipse Stable in Guthrie on Saturday for the schooling show. Seems when the club plans a show, Mother Nature decides to throw in a few rain showers just to make the day interesting. Due to the soft surface in the outdoor arena following the overnight showers, everyone warmed up and showed in Joni’s spacious indoor arena. The weather was cool and overcast with a nice breeze. It was perfect for the competitors who desired to show in more than one class without overheating both horse and rider.
After bidding adieu to her students that showed in the leadline and 13 & under English division, Sandy Adams dusted off her veteran Morgan lesson horse; that younger looking than 26 years old “Dutch”. It was great to see Sandy on a horse, rather than her usual location in the middle of the ring as an instructor! Sandy rode bareback on Dutch in trail classes with an introduction to opening a mailbox. Those versatile Morgans can learn something new at any age!
Bill Givens was a good sport to be the human coat rack for the trail course that was designed by Christina Mitchell. Laura Ann Ward was the mailbox “post”. (Was discouraged from maintaining the same pose as the cement jockey statues.) All the trail class exhibitors had fun with the not as simple as it looked course.
Judge Judy Rivers had some tough decisions in both the English and Western divisions. All the exhibitors had some stellar classes on quality horses. The English Championship class was as good or better than seen at a class “A” show.
The Show High Point Morgan Award was won by Palmer Renshaw and Regency Touch of Midnight. AMHA provided a very nice neck sash and plaque.
